Part 1: Our Journey into Biblical Hebrew and Bible Translation

We are Anthony and Steffie Prins, a couple who love the Lord deeply and whose hearts are set on being a gift to the body of Christ. For many years, our lives have been intertwined with the church, serving in youth and children’s ministry, leading in music ministry, and investing in community work. These spaces have shaped us, stretched us, and given us a front-row seat to God’s transforming power in people’s lives.

Alongside ministry, we both built careers in the corporate world. Yet less than two years ago, we sensed the Lord calling us to create more capacity and time for His kingdom work. Stepping out of the corporate space was not easy, but it opened a door we could never have imagined: the world of Bible Translation.

Our first step into this calling was through the Kaaps Old Testament Bible Translation project. This initiative is close to our hearts because it allows the Word of God to reach our own people in their own language. It is a project that breaks barriers, bringing Scripture into spaces where it could not enter before.

Now, the Lord is leading us further. Through Wycliffe SA we are joining a Biblical Hebrew training programme in Jerusalem, where we will spend 15 months immersed in the language of Scripture. This training is not just for us; it is preparation to serve Bible translation projects across the world. Through this, we will help other language groups translate the Word faithfully and accurately, ensuring that communities who have never had the Bible in their own language will finally hear God’s voice in words they understand.

This journey is bigger than us. It is God’s mission, His purpose, and we are humbled to play a part in it. Together, we can help make Scripture accessible to more people, in more languages, than ever before.
