Stephen Coertze is appointed as the new Director of Wycliffe SA.

1999

Vision 2025 is adopted by SIL and Wycliffe at an international level. In 1999, the projected timeframe to begin translation in all remaining languages (that had been identified at the time) was 120-150 years. Vision 2025 became the catalyst that sparked new approaches to Bible Translation across the globe.

2000

"Changing Tides"

It is a time for re-thinking basic assumptions and core values in our mission as Bible translators. Led by the new Director Stephen Coertze and the Board, a time of deep reflection prepares the ground for new strategies for Wycliffe SA to contribute to the fulfilment of Vision 2025.

2000

2004

In 2004 Wycliffe South Africa became part of Wycliffe Africa Area, while maintaining dual membership with Europe Area.

2005

ICON:
Intense discussions on the future of Wycliffe SA are held. Derek Fivaz, Stephen Coertze, and Sebastian Floor continue the discussion on the flight home from Singapore. Based on the realisation that Wycliffe SA’s regional involvement is aligned with the Mission of God, the rudiments of a strategy for Wycliffe SA’s direct participation in the southern African region are conceived.
