What is your background and experience? Tell us a bit about yourself
I was born in Malema District in Nampula, Mozambique, and am a Makhuwa. I am serving as a local church pastor and am passionate about Bible translation and church planting. I like to make friends and share the love of God.
What is your role in Bible Translation? Tell us a bit about what you'll be doing
I joined Wycliffe South Africa in May 2024 and I serve as the Field Coordinator for East Africa and specifically Mozambique. As a Field Coordinator, I am shadowing the Senior Coordinator to learn and develop more skills.
My role in Bible Translation is to build a good relationships between the team and the community, church leaders, consultants, translators, and everyone involved. It's also to motivate the translation team to bring God's Word to many mother tongues that speak to their heart. I also seek to understand the needs of the team in the field and facilitate prayer to seek God's direction and solutions.
What are some of your hobbies and interests?
My passion is to see people's lives transformed by the Word of God. I'm excited to see many languages receive the Word of God in their own mother tongue. I hope to see many people becoming true followers of our Lord Jesus by the transformation of the Word of God.
Tell us a bit about your family
I am married to Argentina Luis Buanaite, and we are parents of four children: Genesis, Ruth, Noemie and Moses. My family is based in Nampula City where we serve the Lord. My wider family are in Malema district and my home village.
What is something you enjoy about being part of WSA and/or Bible Translation?
I enjoy the unity of the team and the impact that the Word of God is bringing - the transformation of the community as they engage with the Word.
