What is your role in Bible Translation (or nature of your connection to WSA)? Tell us a bit about what you do

I work in Scripture Engagement and Ethnodoxology. Essentially this looks at the way different languages and cultures use the Bible, engage with it and integrate it into all the different areas of life and community, in a locally relevant, creative and helpful way. It also looks at the way languages and cultures worship and praise God, using the art and music that God has blessed them with. 

Tell us a bit about your family

I'm married to Jacques van der Walt, who is a music teacher, conductor and sound engineer. I grew up in England, but my family are spread across the UK, Australia and South Africa.

What are some of your hobbies and interests?

I love music, books and tea! I play quite a few instruments and love to make music or to play classical music, and I am always reading. Like a true British person, my tea collection is quite extensive.

What is something you enjoy about being part of WSA and/or Bible Translation?

Seeing the freedom that God's Word brings, in so many different ways, and seeing local people raised up to advocate for their language and cultural identity in Christ.
