Bible Storytelling Workshops: Sharing the Gospel by telling stories

Jesus said, “When the Holy Spirit has come upon you, you will receive power and will tell people about me everywhere.” (Acts 1:8)

Have you ever wanted a way to share the good news of the Gospel with friends and neighbours who would not read a Bible or come to church? Try asking, “May I tell you a Bible story?”.

At this workshop you will learn how to craft, tell and teach Bible stories that are simple, accurate and memorable, and find easy ways to build them into daily conversations.

Jesus began to teach by the lake. He got into a boat and all the people were along the shore at the water’s edge. He taught them many things by stories… He spoke the word to them, as much as they could understand. He didn’t say anything to them without using a story. (Mark 4)

The use of Bible storytelling is not new; Jesus used stories a lot in His ministry. The approach is simple: people share the Scriptures in story form rather than reading the Word.

We believe in the priesthood of believers based on what Jesus has done for us. But you are God’s chosen and special people. You are a group of royal priests and a holy nation. God has brought you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Now you must tell all the wonderful things that he has done. (1 Pet 2:9)

Everyone who is in Christ (and therefore has the Holy Spirit within them) can know God’s truth for themselves and share the Gospel.

During a workshop we teach five skills:

  1. How to craft a story
  2. How to revise a story so that it is Simple, Accurate and Memorable
  3. How to tell a story using your body language and vocals
  4. How to teach a story to someone else so that they can pass it on and use it for themselves
  5. How to lead a Bible study using a Bible story

The workshops are suitable for anyone from about 12 years old upwards, and will prove beneficial for family devotions, home groups, youth and children’s ministry, preaching, local and overseas gospel outreach. Most importantly, it will give you the skills, confidence and motivation to share the Word of God with everyday contacts in your home, neighbourhood and workplace.
