What is your background and experience? Tell us a bit about yourself

I was born in the Free State in a small town called Welkom and relocated to Kimberley in the Northern Cape when I was 25 years old. I am currently 44 years old, married for 20 years to a wonderful husband and we have been blessed with two sons aged 16 and 13. I have a Bachelor of Accounting Science degree and SAICA articles which has served me very well in my 20+ years’ experience in the finance field. 13 of these years included a successful career working for De Beers in Kimberley before we moved to Pretoria in 2018. Our relocation brought with it a time of change, reflection and rediscovery of my identity in Christ and not in performance. I commenced studies in Pastoral Narrative Therapy and Counselling in 2021. This has proved to be a passion and I completed a 3-year qualification and practical in narrative therapy in 2023. Driven by Matthew 6 verses 19-21, I commenced working for our local church in July 2022, serving the community and doing the Lord’s work through outreaches and compassionate ministry. Father God then stirred in my heart a desire to use my finance capabilities as well as the heart for ministry and talents which He has placed in me. Through prayerful supplication, God has opened this door for me at Wycliffe South Africa from July 2024 as Project Accountant. I look forward to being involved in various translation projects and am excited to see what lies ahead!

What is your role in Bible Translation? Tell us a bit about what you'll be doing

I am working in the Finance Department as a second Project Accountant due to increasing project volumes. I am responsible to assist in equipping the translation teams to effectively manage the project finances by timeously receiving and processing financial transactions and information used to produce reports which are used to make critical financial decisions about the projects.

What are some of your hobbies and interests?

I enjoy being active and outdoors by jogging and hiking. I am passionate about narrative therapy and counselling and how it takes people from problem saturated stories to discovering their identity and values, resulting in transformed narratives!

Tell us a bit about your family

My husband’s name is Kobus, he works for the Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities. We have two sons: James who is 16 years old and Luke who is 13 years old. My lovely mother Lavonne is 76 years old and lives with us in her granny flat on our property.

What is something you enjoy about being part of WSA and/or Bible Translation?

I enjoy and am thankful for the God-centered environment at Wycliffe South Africa where the Bible, prayer, praise, and worship are honoured with time and space and are focussed on as being foundational in all that is done at Wycliffe South Africa. I am looking forward to the stories I will one day tell of my journey being a part of this amazing ministry!
